Can't install/update Vmware tools 9.9.0
Hi everyone.
I've faced a problem with installing/updating latest Vmware tools v.9.9.0. Once I choosed to update the tools and they have been downloaded I receive an error "Corrupt file received from update server. Check your network connectivity and try again later. If the problem persists, contact VMware Support or your system administrator". And now every time I press "Download and Install" button I receive this error message and as I can see update tool doesn't try to redownload tools image.
I couldn't find where temporary image was saved so I reinstalled Vmware Player and tried to download and install tools again using different network interface. And again I received a message about corrupt image.
Do you have any suggestions how to fix this? I receive annoying messages about new Tools available every time I start VM.

vmplayer 7.0.0 GUI freezes at a random keystroke
Hi
I'm running a XP environment in VMware Player 7.0.0 build 2305329 on my win7 64-bit machine.
Recently, the XP environment freezes when I use the keyboard. I can use the mouse all I want, but as soon as I use the keyboard the interface stop working.
The player it self is still responsive, but everything that has to do with XP interface is frozen.
This goes on for a while after witch I can use the mouse again. But as soon as I hit a key, it all starts over.
I think I have been through every setting I can find, but I cant find anything that I think looks relevant.
Have any body out there seen something like this? and if so, how did you solve it?

No Internet on host
I have installed vmware player on my windows 8.1. I have installed kali linux as my vm machine. The connection type I use is bridge amd replicate host. I use wifi on the host.
When I first installed it (few weeks ago), I was able to use Internet on both my host and virtual machines at the same time.
After that, I created a windows 7 virtual machine so I have kali linux and windows 7 virtual machines now. The connection type on my windows 7 virtual machine is NAT because it is the only type that can let me connect to the Internet.
However, I am now having issues with my kali linux. When I start kali linux my host's Internet connectivity will be lost immediately and I can only connect to the Internet in kali linux. After I turn off my kali linux, I will be able to connect to the Internet again.
Any help is appreciated.

Failed to connect pipe to vm: Unknown Error 2(0x2) VMP 7
Hello,
after reinstalling VMWare Player 7 I can't start any of my old vm neither new ones. I made sure that permissions of the file/drive are set correctly and checked the Authorization-Service (it's running). Did a couple of restarts - but no improvements.
The Error I get is:
Error while powering on: VMware Player cannot connect to the virtual machine. Make sure you have rights to run the program, access all directories the program uses, and access all directories for temporary files.
Failed to connect pipe to virtual machine: Unknown error 2 (0x2).
Any clue?
Host is Windows 8 and vm are different systems (Windows, Linux,...). None of them is working.

Guest window flickering on mouse movement or keyboard input
VMware Player 6.0.2 (also happens on similar version of VMWare workstation)
Windows 7 x64 guest running on CentOS 6 host
Dell T6510 with Nvidia Quadro K2000 grpahics, driver version 340.46
Dual displays
Sometimes (not consistently) the VMware guest window will start flickering off/on on every movement of the mouse and on each keyboard keystroke. The flicker occurs every time the mouse detects movement, so there are many flickers as the mouse is moved across the screen. The flickering stops when there is no user input. It happens regardless the guest window is full screen or not. It does not matter which of the two displays the guest window is in.
This seems to happen only upon coming back to the desktop after it has been locked and perhaps if the monitors have gone into power-save mode. It's pretty inconsistent: it happens only every few days. Suspending or shutting down the guest and restarting VMware fixes the problem.

problem for communicated between PC's and VM

Actuellement, j'ai un petit souci sur VM Player.
Après avoir installé Pfsense sur la VM pour pouvoir faire des tests sur ce pare-feu, en ayant ajouté 3 cartes réseaux connecter en NAT.
J'ai attribué les @IP, je peux pingé sur ma VM vers mon PC ou vers un site web, mais je ne peux pas faire de ping de ma VM à mon PC ou l'inverse, j'ai besoin de communiqué avec ma VM pour pouvoir avoir accès à l'interface web de pfsense.
D'où peut venir ce problème?

At present, I have a small problem on VM Player.
Having installed Pfsense on the VM to be able to make tests on this firewall, by having adding 3 network cards to connect in NAT.
I attributed @IP, I can ping on my VM towards my PC or towards a Web site, but I cannot make of ping my VM to my PC or the opposite, I need communicate with my VM to be able to have access to the Web interface of pfsense.
Where from can come this problem?

Can't uninstall VMWare Player v6.0.5
Hey. I'm learning BlackBerry 10 development and I installed the wrong version of the VMware Player for the BlackBerry Device Simulator.
It should have been 7.1 but I installed 6.0.5 build 2443746 My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
The error message after attempting a Remove in the Install Wizard said: The MSI '' failed.
That's it. I can't install the right version until I uninstall 6.0.5. What do I do?

Player virtualization settings
I am running two HP workstations (Z400: 4-core Xeon processor; Z600: 2x4-core Xeon processor) equipped with Win 7 Pro x64. The guests are in both cases 32bit Win XP Pro. Both computers have 16 GB RAM and Nvidia Quadro 2000 or 4600 cards.
I don't know the proper virtualization settings (Preferred mode; Disable acceleration for binary translation; Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT; Virtualize CPUperformance counters).
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Force Closed a Suspended Guest
Hi, I have a backup Script that saves a lot of specific stuff on my hard drive, including the entire VMPlayer-Guest Folder to a removable drive. This all works fine, but was just noticing that if the Guest machine (Ubuntu) has been Suspended then there are two huge files (.vmem and .vmss) that also gets backed up.
What I would like to do is force that Guest closed before the Folder is backed up. I fully realize that any open applications within the Guest will be lost and that's OK as I always close everything before suspending the Guest. If I forget then it is not critical anyway as I am only using the Ubuntu Guest to teach myself Linux.
I have checked the Command line options and it seems vague on what's possible.
The Guest will not be running at the time the backup script is active.
The Guest may have been Suspended -OR- the Guest may have been shut-down when I last used it.
I need it in a Shut-down state before the Backup script copies the Folder and files to reduce backup times a little.
Can someone please give me a Command line sequence they will do this?
-OR-
Can I just have the script delete the .vmem and/or .vmss if it finds one or both there?

OS not found - yet device is Connected
I've installed VMPlayer on a new computer, though VM can't find the OS on any ISO's I provide. These work fine on my other systems. Its odd because the ISO drive is CONNECTED and CONNECTED AT POWER ON. Please see below. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can overcome this issue? Thanks in advance.

vmware player 6.0.5 - ubuntu 14 guest os not starting - no display and high cpu usage
recently upgraded VMware player to 6.0.5.
a week back I had upgraded Ubuntu from 12 to 14
it was working fine but after player upgrade worked few times and subsequently guest os is not booting
when it is attempting to boot, screen is blank and cpu usage becomes high
another vm instance having Ubuntu 12 is working fine on the same VMware player installation.
host os is windows 7
anybody knows what could be the problem and how to resolve?

Graphical Stutter in Linux Guest (E.g., Ubuntu)
How can I eliminate graphics stuttering in a Linux guest?
For example, moving a window around in Ubuntu, the animation is smooth for a maybe 500-800ms, and then the animation stutters, repeat. However, there is no visual tearing, so vertical-sync/vblank must be applied at some level. If I run glxgears, it shows a framerate of 6000fps, which I would expect it to run at 60fps if vblank was working correctly in the guest.
I notice this with any Linux guest, and any desktop environment. It is not the end of the world, but it would be great if the graphics performance (at least in desktop, I am not trying to run 3D applications) was on par with native performance.
I am running this with pretty beefy hardware (i7-4770k, GTX770, 16GB memory, SSD), so I don't think hardware is the bottleneck, but rather the software (Ubuntu or VMware) isen't ensuring the graphics have proper vertical-sync/vblank and frame pacing.
