I can't access the internet through my VM. My host network connections shows the two adapters for vmware as "unidentified network" with no internet access. When you check the details of both adapters it says DHCP is enabled and I have my VM set to NAT. I aso have VMware player as a program allowed to go through my firewall. But I still can't access the internet. Can anyone help with this issue?
Can't access internet on VMware player with XP VM
VM Hangs or Stutters
Base is Win7 64bit AMD Quad Core with 8GB of mem.Currnetly running VMPlayer 3.1.5 with 2 VM's configured. One is XP Pro the other Ubunto 10.2 Desktop. I never run both at the same time. Everything work just fine until I attempt to upgrade to VMPlayer 4.x or 5.x. I want to run Win8 in a VM and VMPlayer 3.1.5 doesn't appear to support it, which I understand. I have both Win7 and the VM's loaded on a SSD.
This is a case where newer isn't better. VMs are pretty useless running the current VMPlayer. I have been able to uninstall VMPlayer and reinstall 3.1.5 and everything goes back to being fine.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Unable to install VMware Tools on Fedora 18
A Fedora 18 VM was created on VMware Workstation 9 as VMware 7 HW.
I copied the VM to a PC running VMware Player 5.
I started the VM and attempted to install VMware Tools.
I updated the kernel and installed either kernel-headers and kernel-PAE-devel
The setup works fine until I get a message saying that the path "/lib/modules/3.7.4-204.fc18.i386.PAE/build/include" is not a valid path to the 3.7.4-204.fc18.i386.PAE kernel headers.
Looking around the forums somebody suggests to edit vmware-install.pl : is it true?
Is there any simpler way to make VMware Tools install?

map through unknown usb device from host
Hello,
I am having a virtual machine running windows XP on a windows 7 64bit host. The device I attached to usb isn't recognized in Windows 7 because there are no drivers for it. This results showing up as Unknown Device in the device manager.
I want to connect this through to the virtual machine but it doesn't show up in the list of usb devices
I already tried to set HID devices to true in the VMX file, this results in showing up the mouse and keyboard to map but not the Unknown device I want to map.
Is it posible to map through a unkown device and if possible how do I get it to show up?
Player 4
I am student, at home I have been using Player 5. But at school they use player 4, which is a problem. Since I cannot open any of the files that I created with Player 5. I need to be able to access these files when I am at school, is there a way to correct this? If so how?
Cannot connect VM guest OS from other computer in the LAN
Iam using Windows 7 32 bit OS as the host and Windows XP OS 32bit(SP 2) as guest OS in my VMware Player
I can very well connect using NAT type Network and connect Host and guest even i can use internet in my guest OS
But this guest OS is not at all visible to other computers in my LAN.
I have googled and find some solution that suggest to map the connection of the guest OS directly to my Physical NIC card.
And by doing so i got the guest OS visible to all my LAN computers. But i cannot get to internet within the guest OS if connect it that way
Some please help me in this direction
Thanks in advance
VMplayer wont start complaining on 2.6.39-300.26.1.el6uek.x86_64.rpm
Hi Gurus,
OS: Oracle enterprise Linux 6
VMware rpm: VMware-Player-2.5.5-328052.x86_64.rpm
It is a fresh installation of VMplayer and it wont start complaining that Kernel headers for version 2.6.39-300.26.1.el6uek.x86_64 were not found.
Upon checking for this at the OS level, i noticed that kernel-uek-2.6.39-300.26.1.el6uek.x86_64 already installed.
Here is the belowoutput:
[root@oggblr Downloads]# yum install kernel-uek
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit, security
Setting up Install Process
Package kernel-uek-2.6.39-300.26.1.el6uek.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
[root@oggblr Downloads]#
Please help me out in getting this thing fixed.
Thanks
Vivek
Mac OS on Debian
Hi
I'm very new to vmware, trying to get a Mac OS running on my Debian wheezy. I installed vmplayer and have two images of the Mac OS (Lion & Mountain Lion). When I try to start either of them, vmplayer in the terminal tells me
Warning: program compiled against libxml 208 using older 207
I think to fix this issue I'd need either to compile vmplayer on my computer or install the newer libxml and tell vmware to use this instead. I didn't manage to do either thing.
Here I downloaded the source
but I am a bit confused as there is only the workstation available, but not the player. Anyway, I tried to compile it, but I only see lots of archives, no makefile or so.
So I installed the newer version of libxml, which worked fine, but now I don't know how to tell vmplayer to use the new library.
The issue I have is that when I try to start Lion, I only get a grey screen with an apple on it. I waited for ~3 hours, nothing happened. I don't know how to access any log file.
If I try to start Mountain Lion, I get a crash:
How to route host Tap(VPN adapter)
Hi everyone!
I`m rather new to virtualisation and I`ve been trying to find the solution to the follwing problem:
host: w7 64bit with opnevn installed
guest: w7 32bit
Can I route the adapter so that the guest is connected to the internet using the TAP (open OPEN VPN) connection? In other words, when the VPN fails, there should be no internet connection in the guest.

Virt to W7
Hello the shop here has several computers VMplayer with Xp and Windows 7. All the folks using VMPlayer can copy excel materials from VMplayer into Windows 7. All the computers are the same ...however with Maureen she is unable to drag and drop /copy and paste. For example I can drag the excel document to the edge of VMplayer and it stops. I cannot drag it out of VM into Windows7 as with the other computers. I did reinstall VMTools. That did not help. As for unity I do not understand it. With Maureen's computer I did click on unity and that did not help. What I did not is the all the other computers Unity is grey out, and they can freely drag and drop. With Maureen's computer Unity is enable, and I cannot drag and drop. Slightly perplexed. Let me know how to make it possible to draganddrop from VMplayer <> Windows 7. Thanks!
VMWare Not allowing incoming connection
I have w7_x64 ultimate and installed vmware player. I have created a VM running centos 6.3x86_64 on a bridged connection. Seems like vmware is not allowing me to connect to centos. I have configured centos to allow ssh & http connections. I have also tried disabling the fw but to no avail. I have also allowed outbound & inbound connection for vmware on my w7 fw. Am I missing something?

Kubuntu: Bug 311974 - When I set the panel to auto-hide, the mouse does not reveal it
Can anybody duplicate this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311974 (current daily build of Kubuntu 13.04 and current VMWare Player and Tools)?
I am running a Daily Kubuntu 13.04 build in VMWare Player. On Kubuntu 12.10, with KDE SC 4.9, I normally set the panel to autohide and mouse to the bottom to reveal it. Since the early RCs of KDE SC 4.10, only Alt F1 reveals it.
Problem install Windows Server 2012
I tried, with various configurations, install Windows Server 2012 as guest os but always got the error attached.
Anyone know why?

Guest Windows-7 32bit on Windows-8 64bit - Slow with 4GB/4 Cores
Hi,
my guest OS has assigned 4 of 16GB and all 4 cores of the hosting system. As the guest Windows 7 is 32bit 4GB is more than it can handle anyway.
Still the guest is runing a bit slow & sluggish. Even on simple tasks like web browsing. On the host browsing is so much faster in Chrome for example.
But also other tasks are remarkably slower.
What should I chnage on my uest config? Might be the huge resoltuion of 1920 ?
Or is the virtual network driver making it slow?
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks
