WinXP guest BSOD crash with STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80537E92, 0xBA4CEF90, 0x00000000)

Hi,

 

I've been running my old WinXP PC converted with p2v in VMware Player for a couple of years now without a problem, but recently (I guess after the Player upgrade to 6.0.1) it will not boot anymore giving the mentioned BSOD message (check the attached picture). No explanation is given about the possible faulty driver or something similar. It boots normally to safe mode and there I've tried to disable anything suspicious and all possible unnecessary services and drivers, but again as soon as I try to boot normally blue screen appears. Tried googleing a lot but there is nowhere mention of such BSOD message without any clue. Any suggestions, at least where else to look for possible cause?

I need to access a dial-up Modem

Hi All,

 

I am using win2000 as a Guest to run some old 16-bit software for a friend. The software needs to transfer stuff through a dial up modem so I bought a USB-based Modem which works fine from the Host win8 but the friend's software will not run in win8 and no suitable compatibility mode for it either.

 

I can't seem to get the Player to find the modem or a serial (win8 says it is on Com3) port within the Guest.

 

How can we get this working in win2000?

VM-Player 6 lässt sich unter Opensuse 13.1 nicht starten

Hallo,

 

wenn ich den VMPlayer 6 unter OpenSuse 13.1 starten möchte bekomme ich folgenden Fehler:

 

PANIC /build/mts/release/bora-1410761/bora/lib/unicode/unicodeCommon.c:330

/usr/bin/vmplayer: line 107: 2539 Aborted "$BINDIR"/vmware-modconfig --appname="VMware Player" --icon="vmware-player"

 

Leider kann ich damit nichts anfangen. Weiß hier jemand Rat?

XENIX Networking Issue

I was toying with the question of whether a Xenix image (Acronis TIB) and a recovery ISO would allow installing XENIX directly in VMP. Attempts to add a TIB to an Acronis ISO failed ... and ... for some reason the original Acronis ISO wouldn't complete its boot sequence anyway.  

 

Discovered that VMware has a free utilty that will convert TIB files directly to a VM (creates VMX files using VMware Center Converter Standalone Client)

 

This utility converted the XENIX TIB file and XENIX is now running in VMware Player 4.x with the exception of networking ... VM Player has a few network options ... however ... no luck yet with getting the network to work ... Any suggestions would be appreciated?

I want to install vmplayer on my arch linux(kernel3.12),but it seems that vmplayer doesn't support kernel3.12 yet.

VMWare Player 6 - Copy and Paste not working between guest and host

Hi all,

 

I am unable to cut and paste (text) or drag and drop (files) between the guest and host and vice versa.

 

I am running a Windows 7 (32bit) guest on a Windows 8.1 (64bit) host.

 

Everything else works to date works fine and VMWare Tools are installed.

 

I have spent a few hours searching and have not been able to ascertain if this is a known issue or just an incompatibility in my environment/configuration.

 

Any suggestions/comments would be most welcomed.

VMWare Player 6 Gray Box Glitch on Ubuntu 13.10

Hi,

 

I just installed Ubuntu 13.10 (64bit) as well as VMWare Player 6.0.1 on my laptop. For the most part everything seems fine, but there is this annoying empty gray box at the top of the VMware window that wastes screen space. I've attached some screenshots showing this.

Windows 8.1 AIO não funciona no VMware Player

Tenho a versão mais recente do VMware player instalado. E nunca tive problemas. Inclusive consigo carregar as minas AOI's do Windows 7 e do Windows 8 sem problemas.

Mas ao criar a AIO do Windows 8.1 e tentar iniciar no VMware player, eu não consigo e recebo a mensagem como segue abaixo:

Alguém poderia me explicar, porque eu não consigo carregar esta AIO ? As ISO´s normais do Windows 8.1 carregam normalmente, menos a minha AIO.

[HELP] upgrade vmware 3 to vmware 6

Hi all,

i'm a new user of vmware.

Into my asus pro50vl vmware player 3 is running with no problem.

Now i would like to create a vm with windows 8, but vmware player is not able to do it.

Then i try to install vmware player 6 but when i install it i receive the follow message:

VMware-player-6.0.1-1379776

Error: VMware Player can not be installed on this computer. VMware Player requires features that are not present on your CPU. See the product release notes for specific hardware and software requirements.

 

 

why? any help?

Player not recognizing blank DVD+R DL

Hello all,

 

Host: Ubuntu Raring 13.04 AND Saucy 13.10 (two different computers), both 64Bit.

VMPlayer 6.0.1 build-1379776 installed on both.

VMWare Tools v9.6.1 on both.

Guest: Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7601, 64Bit on both.

 

Both Win7 Guests will recognize a blank DVD-R 4.7Gb disc without issues.

 

Computer 1: Recognizes blank DVD+R DL 8,5GB disc with no issues (visible in Explorer/My Computer), available in third-party DVD-burning software.

Computer 2: Will not recognize the same disc.

 

Other than computer 1 being a desktop and computer 2 being a laptop, everything is identical -- Same version of VMPlayer, VMTools, Ubuntu Host, Win7 Guest, Windows-based third-party DVD burning software.

 

However, in Computer 2 (laptop), the UBUNTU Host does recognize the higher-capacity, Dual-Layer blank disc (while the Win7 Guest on the same machine, as I said, won't).

 

Any ideas?

Private 192.168.nnn.1 IP Address network traffic leakage

Seeing UDP network traffic with source IP address of the VMNET1 and VMNET8 interfaces on both VMWare Player and Workstation installations.  The only way to stop this traffic has been to disable the VMNET1 and VMNET8 network interfaces.  Looking for a setting to keep the 192.168.nnn.1 traffic off network.

VMPlayer 6.0.1 build-1379776 running on Host OS WIndows 8.1 - Guest OS Windows 7 x64 - BSOD 03b

This same VM worked fine on my old laptop, but after upgrading to a new laptop running Windows 8.1 my Virtual machine keeps crashing with a BSOD.. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION in memory location ..... 03b.

I Googled and it appears this may be related to the VMWare SVGA 3D driver, but I'm not sure.  I have installed the latest VMTools, but that didn't help.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions on the cause or how to fix it?

Ich interessierte mich für Paragons Go virtual

Meaning of BIOS beeps

Where can I locate a table with the meaning of beeps issued by VMware Player BIOS?

The KB article 1664 explaind how to disable beep, but I'd rather like to understand the reason because BIOS beeps...

Bye the way, a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM issues 1 long beep and 2 short beeps while booting, but boots normally.

change language of USer Interface of Vmplayer 6.1 in french or german

Hi guys,

I installed the latest available vesion of VMWare player.

I have the following question:

Is it possible to change the language of WMplay User Interface to another language than English or is there only English available ?

If not is there a possibility , does anyone know which files top open and edit to translate myself in french or german ?

 

I need to do this because I want to install the software on my father's Laptop but he don't speak one word in English..

Would be kind if someone could help me to resolve this issue..

Unable to install a non recognized USB Device in WIN7 into VmWare Player 6.1 ?

Hi guys,

 

I hope someone could help me. I'm running WIN7 Pro 64 bit. I got  Hauppauge WinTV USB PVR2 which allows to convert VHS Videos on the PC. The problem is that there is no driver for this device working on Win7 64bits, only 32bit drivers are available...

I managed to get this device working with Virtual PC from Microsoft but after 3 or 5 minutes in recording mode, the software freezes and the record is stopped...

So I installed a virtual Machine with VmWare Player and a XP Pro 32bits virtual machine.

When I now connect the USB Device to the PC, Win7 does nothing aka does not install the drivers for it, it is shown as unknown. VmWare Player finds the new device, connect to the guest but it does not appear in the Hardware manager of Windows XP even when I click to connect the device to the guest in top of the Window of VmPlayer... I got then two messages:

This one first:  A USB device is about to be unplugged from the host and connected to this virtual machine. It will first be stopped to enable safe removal. With some devices, the host may display the message "The device can now safely be removed."

then this one:

The connection for the USB device "Hauppauge USB Device" was unsuccessful. Driver error.

 

So is it possible to connect an unrecognized USB device directly to the guest OS without having to disconnect it first from Win 7 ??

 

Any help would be appreciated...

Windows 8.1 and VMware Player 6.0.1 build-1379776 "No Internet Access"

After updating my Windows 8 Pro system to 8.1 the two VMware Network Adapters (VMnet1 and VMnet8) are listed as "Unidentified network, Public network" "Access type: No Internet access". I've uninstalled VMware Player, reinstalled it, and done a repair install with no change.  The result is when I run one of my Windows VMs they cannot connect to my network or host PC.  For example, in a Windows 7 VM "Network and Sharing Center" the active network is shown as Public network and it's not underlined so I cannot change it to Private and enable sharing.

 

I also noticed that several articles about 8.1 and this kind of problem suggest that you use the Modern Interface PC Settings to change the Network adapter to fix this problem but that lists only the host PC's network adapter, not the VMware adapters. It's as if 8.1 does not recognize or even allow control of the VMware adapters -- at least not when using the Modern GUI's Network Settings.

Hi

 

newbie with vm. Trying to figure how to get 2 VMs to talk to each other. These 2 VMs are on separate machines. How can the VMs be configured to talk to each other?

 

SEcond qn: I have a windows xp VM on a vista. The vista is connected to a LAN (With Internet). How can the Aldine configured to get Internet?

tried all the options: bridging, NAT, host only. But all fails.
