Player not recognizing blank DVD+R DL

Hello all,

Host: Ubuntu Raring 13.04 AND Saucy 13.10 (two different computers), both 64Bit.

VMPlayer 6.0.1 build-1379776 installed on both.

VMWare Tools v9.6.1 on both.

Guest: Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7601, 64Bit on both.

Both Win7 Guests will recognize a blank DVD-R 4.7Gb disc without issues.

Computer 1: Recognizes blank DVD+R DL 8,5GB disc with no issues (visible in Explorer/My Computer), available in third-party DVD-burning software.

Computer 2: Will not recognize the same disc.

Other than computer 1 being a desktop and computer 2 being a laptop, everything is identical -- Same version of VMPlayer, VMTools, Ubuntu Host, Win7 Guest, Windows-based third-party DVD burning software.

However, in Computer 2 (laptop), the UBUNTU Host does recognize the higher-capacity, Dual-Layer blank disc (while the Win7 Guest on the same machine, as I said, won't).

Any ideas?
