Hi
First post, and an occasional (only) VMware player user . . .
I have a desktop PC running Scientific Linux as the host OS, with VMware player v6.0.1 installed.
There are two guest OSs - Windows 7, Windows XP.
There are two network adapters (NICs).
It is my intention that the XP system (only) should use one of the NICs, whilst the host OS and W7 "share" (bridged option, what I tend to use for my typical host + (1) guest configurations) the other NIC.
The XP NIC is to be connected to a private (10.) network, whilst the host and W7 will be connected to onto our group's subnet.
I trialled something similar to this with two NICs in a W7 host, and built a guest VM for XP. The VMware player under W7 (same version as is currently deployed at my Linux host) allowed me the option to "configure adapters". This, in so far as my understanding of this extends, allows me to select the network adapter to be used for a particular VM.
However, using vmware player on my Linux system, I do not see the "configure adapters" option.
From reading around here, I was able to learn about the utility "VMware-netcfg". I can see how I can use that to, say, create two vmnet devices and associate these with respective network adapters (vmnet0 -> eth0, vmnet1 -> eth1) but, again, I don't then see how I can "bind" respective VMs to vmnet(0, 1). Of course, that might not be the approach to take.
I would very much appreciate any information which fellow forum members might be able to provide which would assist me in assigning the network adapters to respective VMs within my Linux environment.
Thanks in advance, and do please prompt me for any further information that you may require . . .
Dave
