How to increase MacOS guest display resolution?

After startup of MacOS guestOS on Win7 64bit Vmware host the initial display resolution of the guestOS is only 1024x768

When I go now in guestOS to

System-Preferences-->Display-->Display--->Scaled

then there is only ONE resolution possible: 1024x768.

However the screen resolution of my host is 1920x1280

So I want to enlarge the vmware guestOS window resolution as well e.g. to 1680x900

How can I achieve this?

I tried in VmWare Settings-->Hardware-->Display

to enable

"Use host settings for monitors"

but this didn't help.

Any other solution?

Do I have to enter a new parameter in *.vmx file?
