Trying to have the guest VM resolution set to the same as the host machine resolution

As the title states, I am trying to have my vm start with the same resolution as my host machine.

Is there an option in VMware Workstation? Or is there a line that I can add to my preferences file in order to do this?

I've tried adding

pref.autoFitFullScreen = "fitHostToGuest"

but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

I'm using VMware Player 4 and VMware Workstation 8. Linux host and Windows 7 guest.
