Did vmware stop support for 32-bit operating systems??
I can't seem to find anything about vmware player 7 for 32-bit windows, what happened?
Does anyone know if it is possible to add/install a new vmnet adapter in VMWare Player? I've added an network adapter for one of my virtual machines, but the new adapter does not show up in Network Connections in Windows7. The ultimate purpose is to add a third network adapter (other than vmnet1 or vmnet8) to connect a third VM in GNS3.
Hello -- I just update one of my xp vm's to vista -- I find now that when I try to reconnect to the shared folder the "host" "vmware-host" is not in the list -- I tried to
enter it manually, but the os says that it can't find "vmware-host"
Did I missed something durring the update to vista? I did preformed a "repair" and it complete without error?
Any suggestions that I my try?
Thanks
Hello,
Since I upgrated from VM player 3.1 to VM player 4.0, Half-life 2 has stopped working properly. The game look seems to be in 16-bit color with boosted gamma (my screen is almost white).
I tried to reinstall the game but it didn't fixed the problem.
Is this problem related to VM Player 4.0? Can someone else run HL2 in VM Player 4.0?

Simon
Hi
I'm using VMPlayer to run a Windows 7 machine on an HP EliteBook 8570w (i7) with 16 GB RAM and a 256GB internal SSD drive.
When I use VMPlayer (I tried version 5 and 7, same result) to run a Virtual Machine with Windows 7, that is located on my internal SSD hard-drive, the performance is great. But since my VM's tend to be large (~50GB) and I like to run multiple releases next each other, I tried a standard USB 3.0 external hard drive. The performance was OK but just not good enough. So I decided to buy a 512 GB USB 3.0 SSD hard-drive. But I'm very disappointed in the performance. The performance seems a factor 100 or so slower. It takes minutes to boot and also minutes to shut down while it supposed to boot in 10 seconds or so. It's simply unworkable. When I check the disk with HD Tune Pro, everything seems to be fine. It looks to me there is some kind of setting wrong. Anybody experience with this?

I cannot access my hos CD rom drive from within my Windows 7 virtual machine. Currently using VM player 6.0.3.
I get an error on start up saying "Fail to connect virtual device ide1:0". The error message also has a bunch of other random pieces of information not sure if they are telling me anything. One I took note of is "ide#cdromlds_bd-re_dh-8b2sh...........That's when I stopped writing.
I have tried switching the drive to scsi and get the same result.
Thanks in advance.
I am currently a user of VMWare player to run the virtual machine for Ubuntu 12.04. Everything was working till today but after a restart I can no longer access the virtual machine.
It does not move ahead after the login page. I enter my login credentials and then it returns back again to the login page. No matter how many time I do this, it does not login. Same, If I try with the guest login.
The only thing that happened was that yesterday I did a lot of update to the ubuntu using sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get upgrade. Today, while performing some simple task the konsole was not responding I had to close it forcibly. On attempting to reopen konsole, it did not respond. While attempting to restart it said konsole in running but it did not show konsole. Like 2-3 times before, I just had to force quit the konsole and restart my virtual machine. After which, I am unable to login.
After I try to login, it shows a black screen of booting with a line at top saying "Checking battery state" and then comes back to login page but does not boot.
I am just using the free distribution of the VMWare player but not the workstation.
Would be great if someone could share there insight on this and suggest a solution.
Thanks,
Nishanth
I have Windows 7 on my PC, running VMWARE PLAYER version 6.0.1 build-1379776. I can no longer start my session, as I keep getting "VMX file corrupt" error.
What does this error mean. Can I reinstall VM player software, and will it find my data?
Please confirm.
Thanks

hello,
I still didn't find an solution why 3d support doesn't work on my win exp guest.
What can be the reason for this? I updated my tools and the SVGA II driver is shown as working.
directX says.. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacture.
But I already downloaded the latest tools?! Is it the wrong driver?
Where can I find the right driver for win exp prof. sp3 guest?
Host = win 8.1
I only saw linux and ubuntu hosts having this problem..
Hello guys
Im testing windows 8.1 (62bit ) guest on Windows 7 64bit host.
Host has 6core CPU with 16Gb ram HD7770 1G graphiccard.
guest uses 1core with 2 Gb mem
I noticed Serious graphic issues on 3D apps and games.
Mostly, broken graphic artifact trail behind moving objects , refrech delays up to 5-10sec, and missing graphic layers like menus etc.

I tried some 3D benchmarks but couldn't apply directX 10 and 11 tests, it said VMware SVGA 3D driver doesn't support DX10 and DX11 , may it be the problem?
is it possible to configure some other driver for guest?
Hello,
I am new to VMWare and I am also new to Horton sandbox_2_2_VM So I wish to get your expertise and advice.
I am trying to run Horton_sandbox_2_2_VM from my VMWare player but I got the messages saying that
1) The block file system Failed
2) Mounting HGFS shares failed
3) Check instances failed
I don't know what are they all meant; and how do I need to correct them.
So please help me if you could.
Thanks,

Hi
I have a licensed version of Win 7 Pro which I would like to run as a VM. I currently use a full version of Windows 8.1 as my main OS. I want to keep the two operating systems as separate as possible as I’m aiming to use the VM for web browsing of sites that are new and for testing new applications before installing them on my main OS.
I’ve read through a number of forum posts and it seems that I have to purchase Player pro in order to achieve an isolated OS. Before I purchase the pro version, I just to make sure of a couple of things.
1) Is there any way to achieve this with VMware player – It’s only for my use.
2) After purchasing Pro, will I be able to create and run an isolated version of Win 7 Pro or do I need Fusion/Workstation to be involved as well.
Thanks
With Player 7 I created an XPSP3 guest VM under Win7-64 and was able to connect and print just fine after installing VM Tools.
However, under a Vista-32 host running the latest available Player 6, the downconverted copy of the VM sees all host printers just fine, but never prints. The documents show up in the guest printer queue, then disappear after a minute or two, as if they printed. The printer itself doesn't even wake up. This happens for any printer tested. The same printers print without problems from the Vista host OS itself.
I notice that, in the VM configuration on the host, no "Printer" entry shows up in the list of devices, though I recall seeing that entry on the Win7 host when I was testing on that.
This seems to be either a Player 6 configuration issue or an issue with the ThinPrint tool not correctly passing the print job through to the host - seemingly it merely thinks it is.
What's my best path for troubleshooting and fixing this? I'm fairly new to VMWare so it's currently pretty much a black box.
I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the tools if that's possible and report back if that helps.
Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu 14.04LTS with an onboard Intel HD 4600 graphics chip. GLXGears shows that it is running OpenGL 3D acceleration, but when I start XP under VMWare Player, I get a message that 3D acceleration is not supported, so we're unable to run a number of video games. I've Googled this to death without result. Can someone here please assist? Thanks.
Hi. First time posting here. I have a quick question that I hope some can help me with, or at least point me in the right direction. I have been unable to find the answer using Google and other on-line resources.
I have Ubuntu 14.04 running as the host operating system and Windows 7 Pro running as a guest in VM Player 7. There are times when I need the Windows 7 to have a static IP address. In order to accomplish this, do I just need to go the network and sharing center of the guest and configure the adapter settings? Or do I need to configure the settings in the guest as well as change the settings on the host?
Thank You
I have two virtual machines running WinXP OS. Is is possible to run SSH server software on one VM and SSH to it from the other VM? Or, even better, is it possible to SSH to the VM from the HOST machine running Win7? I'm just trying out some stuff and want to know if it's worth the effort. Thanks, and sorry if I haven't explained in well.
